The
effects which may come from using the membrane emulsification process are as
described below.

It is possible to uniformly control the
droplet size of the emulsion within the range of sub-microns to several tens
of microns.

|
O/W emulsions and W/O emulsions can be
prepared by the simple method of forcing a dispersion phase into a continuous
phase through a micro-porous membrane.

(3)
|
W/O/W or O/W/O type double emulsions can be
easily prepared using two types of micro-porous membranes.
|
(4)
|
Stable emulsions can be obtained with an
extremely small quantity of added surfactants.
|
(5)
|
Mono-dispersion polymer micro-spheres with
sizes on the order of microns can be produced by properly combining the
above-mentioned membrane emulsification process with the suspension
polymerization process.

(6)
|
Organic or inorganic mono-dispersion
micro-spheres can be produced by a proper combination of membrane
emulsification and interface reaction methods.

(7)
|
Economical due to low operating costs.
